Avera Health to construct new South Dakota campus, with orthopedics specialty — 5 things to know

Avera Health is building a new campus in Sioux Falls, S.D., according to Prairie Business.

Here are five things to know:

 

1. The first leg of construction carries a price tag of $174 million, and will see construction of a surgical hospital and medical office building.

 

2. The Avera on Louise Health Campus will sit on an 82-acre plot.

 

3. The campus’ providers will specialize in orthopedics, sports medicine, gastroenterology, rheumatology and internal medicine.

 

4. The health system chose to build a new campus to meet the demand of a growing population over 45 years old.

 

5. Avera expects to open the new campus in 2020.
