Here are five points:
1. Drs. O’Keefe and Wright are executive chair holders at Washington University in St. Louis. This is one of the few times two members from the same institutions hold leadership roles in the AOA.
2. Previously, Dr. O’Keefe served as president of the Orthopaedic Research Society and the United States Bone and Joint Decade.
3. After earning his medical degree from Harvard Medical School in Boston, Dr. O’Keefe completed his residency in orthopedics at the University of Rochester (N.Y.) Medical Center.
4. Dr. Wright earned his medical degree from the University of Missouri Columbia and completed his residency at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tenn. He is fellowship trained in sports medicine at the Minneapolis Sports Medicine Center.
5. Dr. Wright will be installed as the 2018-2019 AOA president in June 2018, and Dr. Harner will be installed as the organization’s 2019-2020 president in June of the following year.
