AMA launches series to help physicians alleviate administrative stress: 5 key notes

The American Medical Association has launched AMA STEPS Forward, a new effort aimed at helping physicians avoid administrative stress.

Here are five key notes on the new program:

 

1. AMA STEPS Forward is an interactive practice transformation series.

 

2. The series aims at helping physicians redesign their medical practices to minimize stress. According to a RAND study administrative burden is a root cause of physician burnout.

 

3. Currently, there are 16 modules available in the series. They center on practice efficiency and patient care; patient health; physician health; and technology and innovation.

 

4. There will be 25 modules available by the end of the year.

 

5. Along with the launch of the series, the AMA and Medical Group Management Association issued a practice innovation challenge for medical practice solutions.
