The AAOS funds are a reflection of a wider trend that suggests political contributions from the healthcare sector favor conservative politicians. This year, healthcare PAC money totaling $63.5 million went toward Republicans, while $52.5 million went toward Democrats.
This report comes ahead of the 2012 presidential election, which actually defies this year’s trend. President Obama, so far this year, received $7.5 million in healthcare political contribution dollars, more than Government Mitt Romney’s $5.1 million.
