$714M investment to create 50-bed orthopedic institute at New Jersey medical center

Hackensack (N.J.) University Medical Center of Hackensack Meridian Health is developing its campus into a 530,000-square-foot, $714 million facility.

Four insights:

1. The investment will add a 50-bed orthopedic institute.

2. HUMC will feature 24 new ORs including an intraoperative MRI, 50 improved ICU beds, 100 medical-surgical beds and three floors of private patient rooms.

3. Construction will begin this summer with the facility aiming to open in 2022.

4. Founded in 1888, the 781-bed facility was Bergen County’s first hospital and employs over 8,000 staff.
