7 Statistics on Whether Employed Physicians Will Stay in Their Current Job

Most physicians employed by a healthcare organization plan to stay in their current job for the foreseeable future, according to Medscape’s Employed Doctors Report 2014.

The report includes responses from 4,600 physicians.

 

When asked if they will stay in their current jobs, employed physicians reported the following:

 

•    I plan to stay in my current job for the foreseeable future — 43 percent
•    I plan to stay in my job this year but may change my situation in the future — 38 percent
•    I plan to seek employment at another organization — 9 percent
•    I plan to retire — 3 percent
•    I plan on switching back to self-employment — 2 percent
•    I plan to change careers — 2 percent
•    Other — 1 percent
