Here are the average salaries by the number of years after medical school:

 

1st year: $51,000
2nd year: 52,000
3rd year: $54,000
4th year: 59,000
5th year: $58,000
6th year: $62,000
7th year: $62,000
8th year: $66,000

 

At the same time, around 36 percent of residents report more than $200,000 in debt. Twenty-five percent report not having any debt, and 22 percent have $100,000 to $200,000 in debt.
