Ohio orthopedic group to open $100M hospital

Akron, Ohio-based Crystal Clinic Orthopaedic Center plans to open a $100 million hospital for orthopedic, reconstructive and plastic surgery in the fall.

The 165,000-square-foot facility in Fairlawn, Ohio, will include 60 private patient rooms and 12 operating rooms equipped with Stryker's Mako system and the ExactechGPS guided personalized surgery system for joint replacement procedures, according to a March 9 news release.

Once opened, Crystal Clinic Orthopaedic Center Hospital will replace the practice's current inpatient and surgical facility in Akron.

Crystal Clinic performs more than 17,000 surgeries annually. It is the only hospital in Ohio to receive Joint Commission certifications in total hip, total knee, total shoulder and spinal fusion procedures, according to the report.
