5 Tips for Engaging Physicians in ICD-10 Preparation

In a Government Health IT report, Paul Weygandt, a physician and vice president of physician services at Nuance Communications, shares five tips for encouraging physicians who are lagging behind in their ICD-10 preparation.

1. Explain how ICD-10 codes can help manage patients and improve reimbursements.
2. Customize the training so that it fits their specialties.
3. Try and disrupt their clinical schedules as little as possible with training sessions.
4. Recruit physicians to train physicians.
5. Involve medical leadership in the planning.
