5 reasons physicians reported financial loss last year

Thirty-six percent of physicians reported experiencing a financial loss in the past year, according to the Medscape Physician Wealth and Debt Report 2019.

Here are the top reasons for the loss:

1. Bad investments or stock market loss: 17 percent

2. Business problems, reimbursement changes or change in the practice situation: 10 percent

3. Real estate loss: 5 percent

4. Lawsuits or legal fees: 4 percent

5. Divorce: 3 percent
