Cleveland Clinic delays plans for $30M Florida neurosciences center after finalizing merger — 4 insights

The Cleveland Clinic pushed back plans to build a $30 million Neuroscience Center of Excellence near Port St. Lucie, Fla.-based Tradition Hospital, until after it finalizes its absorption of Martin Health, the TCPalm reports.

What you should know:

1. The Cleveland Clinic plans to construct a three-building campus in Tradition, a burgeoning community within Port St. Lucie.

2. However, Cleveland Clinic officials have had to delay the neuroscience center as the health system incorporates Stuart, Fla.-based Martin Health into its portfolio. Cleveland Clinic acquired Martin Health in October 2018.

3. Cleveland Clinic officials said the neuroscience center will provide stroke, brain, spine surgery and neurology treatments. The health system announced the clinic in August 2018, but has yet to advance past the planning stages of development.

4. A Port St. Lucie official believes the city and the Cleveland Clinic will have an agreed upon deal to acquire or lease land for the clinic to present in front of the City Council for final sale approval Aug. 19.
