4 Reasons for Low Staff Morale & 3 Ways to Raise It

In a Physicians Practice article, Marsha Sosebee, billings and collections manager for a plastic surgery practice and surgery center in Dalton, Ga., lays out four reasons for low staff morale in a medical practice and suggests ways to raise morale.

1. Employees who act like a prima donna.
2. Employees who create petty problems in the workplace.
3. Unfair treatment from management or from amongst the staff.
4. Friendships that get in the way of productivity.

 

Ms. Sosbee suggests the following three ways of improving staff morale:

 

1. Encouraging open and honest communication.
2. Regularly conducting individual and group meetings.
3. Promptly examining and dealing with office issues that are brought up.
