Practice Management

Physicians trained in the U.S. make more than those trained in almost every other country; physicians trained in Canada make the most at $328,000 on average, according to the Medscape Physician Compensation Report 2017.

Here is the breakdown of physician compensation based on where they were trained:

1. Canada: $328,000
2. U.S.: $301,000
3. China: $290,000
4. India: $277,000
5. Pakistan: $273,000
6. Grenada: $267,000
7. Mexico: $263,000
8. Caribbean: $256,000
9. Dominican: $243,000
10. Philippines: $243,000

The report analysts posit Canadian physicians have higher income due to the larger percentage of younger Canadian physicians.
