Last year, Charlotte, N.C.–based Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center earned the designation, which focuses on the surgical flow process from the pre-surgical spine consultation to hospital admission, intraoperative experience, rehabilitation and follow-up visits with the spine surgeon.
Charlotte, N.C.-based Carolina NeuroSurgery & Spine Associates, the largest independent spine group in the U.S., shared in the achievement. The practice’s SpineFirst joint venture with Atrium Health was formed in 2021 to improve spine care delivery.
“We are honored to have received this stamp of approval from the Joint Commission at now our second location,” said Dr. Claude Moorman, MD, president of the Atrium Health Musculoskeletal Institute, said in a Sept. 1 news release. “This designation showcases the talented teams and collective effort between Atrium Health and [Carolina NeuroSurgery & Spine Associates] through our combined partnership, SpineFirst.”
