A spokesperson for Springfield, Ill.-based Hospital Sisters Health System confirmed the closures of Chippewa Falls, Wis.-based St. Joseph’s Hospital and Eau Claire, Wis.-based Sacred Heart Hospital to Becker’s on March 22. Both hospitals were supposed to close on or before April 21, but HSHS moved up the closure dates.

In February Chippewa Valley Orthopedics and Sports Medicine sued HSHS to keep the hospitals open until June 21. The orthopedic practice, which was contracted with HSHS, said the system should have provided a 180-day notice to terminate the relationship.

However the orthopedic group’s request via a lawsuit to delay the closures was denied by a Wisconsin judge.

At the Becker's 23rd Annual Spine, Orthopedic and Pain Management-Driven ASC + The Future of Spine Conference, taking place June 11-13 in Chicago, spine surgeons, orthopedic leaders and ASC executives will come together to explore minimally invasive techniques, ASC growth strategies and innovations shaping the future of outpatient spine care.
