10 potential medical practice staff cuts in 2016

Most physician practices are planning to cut front-desk staff in the coming year, according to the Medscape’s Clinical and Office Staff Salary Report 2015.

The following are staff cuts that medical practices are planning on making in the coming year:

 

•    Front-desk staff — 26 percent
•    Medical assistant — 24 percent
•    Physician assistant — 13 percent
•    Registered nurse — 11 percent
•    Medical biller — 9 percent
•    Nurse practitioner — 8 percent
•    Medical records clerk — 8 percent
•    Medical biller/coder — 4 percent
•    Medical coder — 4 percent
•    Other — 20 percent
