Four people were hospitalized after a gas leak that temporarily closed Middlesex (Conn.) Orthopedic & Spine Associates, WSFB reported March 14.

The practice’s location on Saybrook Road in Middleton, Conn., was closed temporarily after an evacuation March 14, according to a Facebook post from the practice.

WSFB initially reported that one person was hospitalized, but that number rose to four.

A contractor accidentally mixed two chemicals, causing a chlorine gas release, the report said. The release was stopped by a hazmat team, and an industrial hygienist will be hired to clear the building for re-occupancy.
