1/3 of orthopedists discuss treatment costs with patients regularly

Orthopedists reported whether they discussed treatment costs with their patients in Medscape’s “Orthopedist Compensation Report 2017.”

Medscape’s compensation survey included more than 19,200 physicians in more than 27 specialties, including orthopedics.

 

Orthopedics noted how often they discussed cost of treatment with their patients:

 

• Regularly — 33 percent
• Occasionally — 50 percent
• Never — 12 percent
• Not applicable — 5 percent
