Orthopedic and Spine Industry Leader to Know: Dr. David Fardon of Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush

David Fardon, MD, is a spine surgeon at Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush and assistant professor at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago. He is the coeditor of Orthopaedic Knowledge Update for Spine II, which was published by the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the North American Spine Society and is used as a core curriculum text for graduate training in spine surgery.

During his career, Dr. Fardon has also published three books for the general public on neck care, back care and osteoporosis, as well as authored commentaries on artistic and social issues related to the spine. In addition, he was a founding member of The Spine Journal and has served as the editor-in-chief of Disorders of the Spine. He has a professional interest in treating patients with acute or chronic cervical, thoracic or lumbar spinal disorders, including workers' compensation patients.

Dr. Fardon has served as president of the North American Spine Society and was awarded the Selby Award for Outstanding Contributions to Spine Care from the organization in 2000. He is also a member of the American Orthopaedic Association and the American Board of Independent Medical Examiners. He has been affiliated with OrthoCentrix Solutions and has been listed on the Best Doctors in America register for the past ten years.

Dr. Fardon earned his medical degree from the University of Kansas and completed his residency at the University of Missouri Medical Center. He has previously practiced at Knoxville Orthopedic Clinic/Southeast Orthopedics in Knoxville, Tenn.
