It seems fitting that the homepage of Dr. Manish Gupta's Sports & Orthopedic Center in Boca Raton, Fla., is headed by a link to the surgeon's fantasy football picks. As a board-certified sports medicine and reconstruction specialist, Dr. Gupta has worked with the Baltimore Ravens and the Morgan State University football program, helping mend sports injuries and likely sparing fantasy football players weeks of anxiety about their teams.

Dr. Gupta specializes in sports medicine at Sports & Orthopedic Center, where he is known for his work with arthroscopic treatment of knee injuries, rotator cuff repair, joint replacement and minimally invasive hip replacement. He is also affiliated with West Boca Medical Center in Boca Raton, Fla., and North Broward Medical Center in Pompano Beach, Fla.

Dr. Gupta doesn't just reach out to patients through his practice. In Aug. 2009, he debuted a talk radio show called "Sports Doc," an hour-long WWNN 1470 broadcast that discusses medical developments, interviews with special guests and offers a section for listeners to call in with questions and comments.

Dr. Gupta said about his show, "At SOC, we enable our patients to experience the same world class medical care as professional athletes, and a vital part of that includes patient education. For peak performance, pro athletes have to know their bodies inside and out, so why shouldn't everyone have the opportunity to learn what the jocks know?"

Dr. Gupta recently made headlines performing a minimally invasive hip replacement on patient Cleo Butler, 69. According to a news release by SOC, minimally invasive hip surgery is an attractive option when seeking a solution to hip discomfort. The surgery involves a smaller incision, shorter hospital stay and decreased recovery time. For Mr. Butler, though, one of the highlights of his experience was his interaction with his surgeon, Dr. Gupta.

"He was really great," said Mr. Butler. "He did a wonderful job preparing me for what to expect from day one. I went to the hospital very confident that it would be a successful and pleasant experience."

Dr. Gupta earned his MD from the University of Miami School of Medicine and completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Saint Joseph's Regional Medical Center in Paterson, N.J. He also undertook a fellowship in sports medicine and reconstruction at Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore, Md.
