American Orthopaedic Association Honors Dr. James Heckman for Contributions to Orthopedics

The American Orthopaedic Association has honored James D. Heckman, MD, with its Distinguished Contributions to Orthopaedics Award, according to a report in AAOS Now.
The award recognizes AOA members who have made broad contributions to orthopedics. Dr. Heckman is a past president of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and editor emeritus for the Journal of Bone & Joint Surgery—America. During his career, Dr. Heckman served as chairman of the department of orthopedics and director of the orthopedic residency training program at the University of Texas Health Sciences Center in San Antonio.
