ChartLogic Launches Voice Recognition EHR Data Capture Module

Spinal Tech

ChartLogic, a national provider of EHR systems to physician practices, has announced the launching of a new voice recognition clinical documentation module compatible with all leading EHR systems.

The new product, named "Stella", was introduced at the 2011 American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons annual meeting. It is useful for many specialties and can help physicians meet the new meaningful use requirements, according to a company news release.

Stella "enables physicians to use a combination of voice and keyboard commands to quickly record patient data and move from document-to-document and task-to- task," according to the news release. "Stella helps physicians capture key data points for meaningful use while allowing the flexibility of a dictated transcript."

Stella is available for purchase as part of the current ChartLogic EHR Suite or as a separate module that can be added as an application overlay to all major EHR systems.

"Most voice recognition systems simply translate the spoken word into plain text," said Brad Melis, founder and executive vice president of ChartLogic, in the news release.  "With Stella, physicians use voice commands to capture information and move between documents. Stella leverages the speed and ease-of-use of voice dictation, which is the preferred documentation method of many physicians."
