SpineGuard, ConfiDent expand partnership

SpineGuard and ConfiDent ABC have expanded their partnership to allow for increased sharing of intellectual property, they said July 12.

The broadened agreement between the medical implant developers, which began collaborating in 2017, will give the companies more access to each other’s innovations in the dental implantology field and beyond.

Stéphane Bette, co-founder and deputy CEO of Paris-based SpineGuard, called the expansion "a true win-win situation."

"In working hand in hand with ConfiDent, we realized that both companies were working on developing technologies that could be mutually beneficial," Mr. Bette said. "We decided to build up on the successful collaboration so far and create an optimal environment for cross-fertilization and exploitation of technical concepts, IP, research and know-how in our respective fields of focus."

Ron Askayo, CEO of Afula, Israel-based ConfiDent, said the increased sharing first will manifest in the development of SafeDrill, a dental drill adapter that uses SpineGuard’s proprietary Dynamic Surgical Guidance technology, "which will enable many dentists to enter the implant field and carry out implants with predictable and accurate results."

"Dentists will receive real-time feedback from the DSG technology during the cutting process to maximize the bone potential and reduce the risk of neurological and sinus complications," Mr. Askayo said. "This smart sensing tool will transform high-end dental implant surgery into a safe and affordable mass-market procedure that can be carried out by every dentist."
