New invention aims to stop or delay progression of osteoarthritis of knee

Spinal Tech

New York Bone & Joint Specialists announced an invention focused on preventing the development and progression of osteoarthritis of the knee.

The invention also accelerates the healing of any orthopedically repaired tissue and diminishes the need for joint replacement surgery, potentially saving billions of dollars in medical costs, according to an April 1 release.

The device was invented by orthopedic surgeon Leon Popovitz, MD, co-founder of New York Bone & Joint Specialists. Dr. Popovitz and his team have completed both bench testing and cadaver intraoperative testing for the patented implant.

New York Bone & Joint Specialists is a New York City-based physician-led practice specializing in orthopedic surgery, sports medicine, physical medicine and rehabilitation.
