Centinel Spine has launched a patient access program to increase reimbursement support for two-level Prodisc L lumbar total disc replacement, according to an Oct. 27 announcement.

What you should know:

1. The program will support reimbursement coding questions and case management on behalf of patients and providers.

2. Musculoskeletal Clinical Regulatory Advisors will execute the program in conjunction with the spine device company.

3. Clinical trials have shown that lumbar total disc replacement maintains spinal motion, reduces the likelihood of adjacent segment disease and leads to quicker recovery, according to Centinel Spine.

4. Prodisc L received FDA approval for two-level use in the lumbar spine in April.

5. Jack Zigler, MD, of Plano-based Texas Back Institute, implanted the first two-level Prodisc L in 2002.

6. Centinel Spine's Prodisc portfolio features six devices, including an anterior and anterior-lateral approach to lumbar disc replacement and four cervical disc replacement implants.
