Medtronic on Oct. 7 launched Adaptix Interbody System, a 3D-printed titanium cage equipped with nanoLock surface technology.
Four things to know:
1. Modeled on the Capstone spinal system, Adaptix is designed for improved strength, subsidence resistance and bone growth.
2. Adaptix features nanoLock surface technology, which Medtronic acquired along with Titan Spine in June 2019.
3. The nanoLock surface is created by a reductive process of the titanium, rather than applying a coating, which eliminates the potential for delamination — a common concern for PEEK-titanium implants.
4. NanoLock is designed to create an environment that supports osteogenesis while mitigating inflammation.
