Johnson & Johnson Medical Device Companies is a significant player in the orthopedic and spine marketplace, holding the No. 1 spot in orthopedics and No. 2 spot in spine.

DePuy Synthes drives Johnson & Johnson' orthopedics and spine lines. Here are 10 numbers that illustrate how big the company is.

1. DePuy Synthes Companies generate around $10 billion in annual sales.

2. DePuy Synthes Companies has around 18,000 employees in 60 countries.

3. Worldwide, the DePuy Synthes' products support around 1 million orthopedic procedures per year.

4. In a survey of 107 patients who underwent outpatient total joint replacement at four ASCs with DePuy Synthes products, 96.3 percent said they would choose outpatient joint replacement again.

5. Johnson & Johnson has 16 percent of the spine market, according to a report from The Spine Market Group.
