Here are 29 spine and orthopedic device company acquisitions in 2019.

1. Medtronic acquired Titan Spine, enabling the company to bundle interbodies, screws, rods, biologics and enabling technologies for an overall integrated spine solution.

2. Stryker acquired Mobius Imaging and sister company Cardan Robotics for $500 million. 

3. A Stryker subsidiary acquired low-temperature sterilization technology company TSO3 for $52 million, which included all issued and outstanding common shares of the company.

4. Stryker also acquired OrthoSpace for $10 million cash up front and $110 million if the company meets future milestones.

Smith+Nephew acquired:

  • Brainlab, boosting its orthopedic joint replacement business, and will begin integrating the Brainlab platform into the next version of its robotic surgery platform, Navio 7.0.
  • Osiris Therapeutics, a bone graft and articular cartilage substitute products company.
  • Leaf Healthcare, a patient monitoring system developer focused on pressure injury prevention.
  • Atracsys Sàrl, as part of its strategy to develop its digital surgery and robotics ecosystem.

9. Johnson & Johnson's Ethicon completed the acquisition of Auris Health, for approximately $3.4 billion in cash, expanding the company's reach into robotics.

10. Johnson & Johnson Medical Shanghai entered into a co-marketing agreement and research and development agreement with the orthopedic robotics market leader in China, Tinavi.

11. DePuy Synthes entered a definitive agreement with JointPoint to acquire its JointPoint Navigation Software.

12. RTI Surgical completed the up to $300 million acquisition of Paradigm Spine, whose flagship device is designed to treat moderately severe lumbar spinal stenosis in conjunction with decompression.

13. Conventus Orthopaedics acquired all assets of IntraFuse, a startup medical device company operated by Surgical Frontiers.

14. Misonix completed the acquisition of Solys Medical in an all-stock transaction of roughly $109 million in value.

15. Integra LifeSciences acquired Rebound Therapeutics, adding the company's minimally invasive neurosurgery system.

16. Integra LifeSciences also acquired privately-held Arkis Biosciences, doubling down on its position in the neurosurgical device market.

17. Linden Capital Partners acquired Collagen Matrix. The company's collagen products can be used in a variety of applications including the device sectors of neurosurgery, spine and orthopedics.

18. Spine-focused Osseus Fusion Systems acquired SIJ Surgical, which focuses on sacroiliac joint fusion solutions.

19. Exactech expanded its reach in the foot and ankle market with the acquisition of medical device company EPIC Extremity.

20. Exactech also acquired its independent distribution partner in Italy as part of its plan to increase its investment in the subsidiary and distribute more products in Italy.

21. Generex Biotechnology acquired Pantheon Medical — Foot & Ankle, which develops specialty orthopedic surgery devices.

22. Private equity-backed Medin Technologies acquired Advantage Manufacturing Technologies, which creates orthopedic implants.

23. OrthoPediatrics acquired Vilex, a foot and ankle surgical device company, for $50 million cash and $10 million in stock.

24. Celling Spine acquired all assets of Link Spine, which is using spine implant systems to develop biological improvements and maximize the body's natural healing cascade.

25. Acumed acquired Radicle Orthopaedics' RASL Repair System, which treats the scapholunate ligament of the wrist. Acumed acquired the solution for an undisclosed sum to boost its hand and wrist portfolio.

26. Intraoperative neuromonitoring company Assure Holdings acquired Littleton Professional Reading, a professional IONM company, for $700,000.

27. Private equity firm HealthpointCapital acquired a controlling ownership stake in CrossRoads Extremity Systems.

28. Nordic Capital acquired a majority holding in Orchid Orthopedic Solutions. The company manufactures orthopedic implants, with offerings in hip, knee, trauma, extremity and spine.

29. SpineSource acquired intellectual property assets of two spinal implant systems from Kisco International, including its L-Varlock Expandable Lumbar Cage.
