The first two patients in Israel underwent knee surgery with Active Implants' NUsurface Meniscus Implant.
Three things to know:
1. NUsurface mimics function of the natural meniscus and redistributes loads transmitted across the knee joint.
2. It consists of a medical grade plastic and does not require fixation to bone or soft tissues.
3. Orthopedic surgeon Gabriel Agar, MD, completed the first commercial case in a public hospital and Ron Arbel, MD, performed surgery on the first commercial patient in a private clinic in early November.
