Boston Scientific unveils venture with Mayo Clinic — 5 details

Boston Scientific and Mayo Clinic are launching an accelerator to develop new medical solutions, according to Verdict Medical Devices.

Five details:

1. The venture, called Motion Medical, will receive three years of funding to develop new medical technology and minimally invasive treatments.

2. Motion Medical will focus on finding medical solutions for "diseases with unmet clinical needs," VMD reported.

3. The venture will have 1,800 square feet of research space in Rochester, Minn.

4. Boston Scientific and Rochester-based Mayo Clinic have collaborated to develop interventional cardiology, neuromodulation and urology therapies for nearly a decade.

5. The organizations have submitted eight patent applications and collaborated on two first-in-human clinical trials.
