Medical device companies Misonix and Organogenesis joined the Russell 2000 and 3000 Indexes.

Organogenesis was also added to the Russell Microcap Index, which Misonix is already included in.

Three things to know:

1. Russell indexes are commonly used by investors for index funds and as foundations for active investment plans. Roughly $9 trillion in assets are benchmarked against Russell's U.S. indexes.

2. FTSE Russell determines membership for its indexes by market-capitalization rankings and style attributes.

3. The Russell index changes became effective at market close on June 28.

"Our inclusion on the Russell indices marks yet another important milestone for Misonix and represents an opportunity to further increase our visibility and exposure among a broader and growing group of institutional investors," said Stavros Vizirgianakis, president and CEO of Misonix.
