Capital Ortho surgery center in Flowood, Miss., became the first independent surgical facility in the state to successfully complete a partial knee replacement with Smith & Nephew's Navio robotic technology, reports WJTV.

The Navio Surgical System helps surgeons achieve precision in both partial and total knee replacement surgeries.

It utilizes a CT-free intraoperative registration, planning and navigation platform to assist surgeons in developing patient-specific surgical plans.

The Navio software guides the surgeon in generating implant plans that localize components and balance soft tissue and utilizes handheld instrumentation with multiple control modes to more accurately prepare the bone for implantation.
