Orthopedic surgeons complete 1st InterSep cases: 3 notes

Spinal Tech

Orthopedic surgeons in New York and Florida performed the first procedures using Exactech's InterSep calcium sulfate bone void filler.

Three notes:

1. Mark Brandon, MD, and Timothy van de Leur, MD, completed the cases at Richmond University Medical Center in Staten Island, N.Y., and The Orthopaedic Institute in Ocala, Fla., respectively.

2. Manufactured by Pacific Bioceramics and exclusively distributed by Exactech, InterSep is designed to fully resorb and replace bone during the healing process. The fully synthetic product is intended for use in bone and joint replacement surgeries.

3. InterSep is only available at select U.S. hospitals and surgery centers, but a full launch is expected later this year.
