NuVasive to expand portfolio with X360 lateral approach: 5 things to know

NuVasive will introduce new technology for lateral single-position spine surgery.

Five key notes:

1. NuVasive plans to introduce the X360 system at the American Association of Neurological Surgeons Annual Scientific Meeting in San Diego, held April 13-17.

2. The technology integrates with NuVasive's Pulse system for single-position lateral surgery. Surgeons can perform the eXtreme Lateral Interbody Fusion procedure, XALIF and XFixation procedures with the Pulse surgical automation platform.

"By incorporating Pulse, and in the future, robotic automation, with X360, we are enhancing the overall OR workflow and helping surgeons deliver greater clinical predictability and reproducible outcomes for their patients," said Matt Link, president of NuVasive.

3. The X360 approach can lower procedure time by up to 60 minutes because the patient doesn't need repositioning. The shorter surgical time also lowers anesthesia need and exposure to infection.

4. NuVasive estimates hospitals can save an average of $5,000 per patient with the X360 technology.

5. More than 400 peer-reviewed publications exist with clinical evidence backing the XLIF procedure. NuVasive offers surgeon education for the X360 system.
