Think Surgical, United Orthopedic join forces to market products — 4 insights

Think Surgical and United Orthopedic entered into a joint marketing agreement to sell their products together, MedicalDesign & Outsourcing reports.

What you should know:

1. Think will sell its Active robotic system, while United will sell its U2 knee system.

2. The Active robotic system is for total knee arthroplasty. Researchers are currently conducting an FDA investigational device exemption study.

3. Surgeons can use the U2 knee system with the Active robotic system. Surgeons have used United's U2 system in more than 140,000 surgical cases to date.

4. "Combined with United's quarter-century reputation as a reliable manufacturer in the medical device space, we believe that Think's expertise in robotic technologies will allow us to potentially offer surgeons a more precise experience in total joint replacement surgery," said John Hahn, Think's president and CEO.
