Medtronic adds new board director: 3 notes

Medtronic appointed Andrea Goldsmith, PhD, to its board as an independent director.

 

Three notes:

1. Dr. Goldsmith became an independent director as of March 11. She is the Stephen Harris professor in the School of Engineering at Stanford University and director of Stanford's Wireless Systems Laboratory.

2. Prior to her current role, Dr. Goldsmith co-founded and served as chief technology officer of Plume WiFi and Quantenna Communications. She has experience with wireless system design and applying information theory and signal processing to neuroscience.

3. In addition to her spot on Medtronic's board, Dr. Goldsmith serves on the board of directors for Crown Castle and is a member of the National Academy of Engineering. She serves on the technical advisory boards of Sequans Communications, a 4G chipmaker and single-mode LTE chipset solutions provider, and Cohere Technologies, which invented a new wireless modulation technology.
