Minimally invasive spine company uses Fitbit to track patients' improvements: 3 notes

Minimally invasive spine device developer Vertos Medical is using Fitbits in a trial to measure improvements in mobility and opioid use following surgery, according to WNDU, an NBC affiliate.

Three notes:

1. After undergoing the minimally invasive Mild procedure, physicians will track patient's success through the Fitbit.

2. The motion study is being conducted at 20 centers. Patients will be evaluated at six-, 12- and 24-months postoperatively.

3. Vertos Medical expects to have the results of the randomized, controlled study in a year and a half.
