NuVasive signs new partnership with Biedermann Technologies to expand spine portfolio: 5 insights

NuVasive and Biedermann Technologies formed a strategic partnership.

Here are five insights:

1. Per the agreement, NuVasive will have access to license Biedermann Technologies' intellectual property relating to the company's spinal technology portfolio.

2. NuVasive plans to incorporate Biedermann Technologies' proprietary screw innovations into its Reline portfolio, which offers surgeons solutions to treat spinal pathologies.

3. The Reline system offers a single tulip that accepts three posterior fixation rods of different diameters. The combination of the system with Biedermann Technologies' screw technology is expected to be commercially available in the first half of 2019.

4. Biedermann Technologies will also assist with NuVasive's efforts to develop the next-generation of its Reline complex spine system.

5. NuVasive plans to showcase the Reline system with Biedermann Technologies' screws at the Scoliosis Research Society Annual Meeting, Oct. 10-13 in Bologna, Italy.
