Santa Clara, Calif.-based Benvenue Medical completed its divestiture of its vertebral augmentation systems to IZI Medical Products.

Here are five things to know:

1. The products divested include the Kiva VCF Treatment System, Kiva Pilot and Blazer Vertebral Augemntation System.

2. Benvenue made the strategic decision to divest of its vertebral augmentation systems to focus on opportunities in the minimally invasive spine surgery devices market. "Our best-in-class Luna 3D Expandable Interbody System is an ideal minimally invasive expandable spinal implant and platform technology enabling Nitinol, PEEK and Titnaium materials to be combined in a procedural solution for degenerative disc disease that can be treated in either a hospital or the ASC setting," said Benvenue Medical CEO Robert Weigle.

3. The terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

4. While divesting of the vertebral augmentation business, Benvenue added the Orbit Discectomy Instrumentation to facilitate discectomy and endplate preparation to achieve fusion. The tool kit is available for both minimally invasive and open procedures with the Luna 3D implants.

5. IZI Medical Products is a company that focuses on medical consumable accessories used during radiology, radiation therapy and image-guided surgery procedures.
