ProPublica's "Dollars for Docs" dataset tracks payments device companies made to physicians between August 2013 and December 2016. The data was last updated June 28, 2018.

Here are the device companies that paid physicians the most:

1. Zimmer BIomet - $309 million

2. DePuy Synthes - $238 milion

3. Stryker - $217 million

4. Arthrex - $170 million

5. Smith & Nephew - $143 million

6. Medtronic - $139 million

7. Boston Scientific - $112 million

8. Intuitive Surgical - $105 million

9. St. Jude Medical - $99 million

10. NuVasive - $94.1 million
