SeaSpine reports $33.2M in 2018 Q1 revenue: 6 things to know

SeaSpine reported $33.2 million in revenue for the first quarter of 2018, a 4 percent increase compared to the same period last year.

Here are six things to know.

1. The company's total U.S. revenue was $29.5 million, a 3.2 percent increase compared to the same period of 2017.

2. Orthobiologics revenue totaled $18.0 million, a 5.2 percent increase compared to the first quarter of 2017, which was led by the growth of SeaSpine's Demineralized Bone Matrix franchise.

3. SeaSpine's spinal implants revenue totaled $15.2 million, a 2.6 percent increase compared to the first quarter of 2017, driven by growth in the Shoreline and Mariner systems.

4. Gross margin for the first quarter of 2018 was 63.3 percent, compared to 58.7 percent for the first quarter of 2017.

5. Net loss for the first quarter of 2018 was $7.1 million; net loss for the first quarter of 2017 was $9.1 million.

6. SeaSpine expects its full-year 2018 revenue to be between $135 and $139 million, reflecting growth of 2.5 percent to 5.5 percent over full-year 2017 revenue.
