Zimmer Biomet presents new technology platform for spine business: 4 observations

Zimmer Biomet showcased a new technology platform for its craniomaxillofacial, bone healing and spine business units at the American Association of Neurological Surgeons Annual Meeting, April 28 to May 2, in New Orleans.

Here are four observations.

1. The company commitment to support advancing technology and reinvent operating models through its new technology platform Surgery Assisting Technology.

2. At the annual meeting, Zimmer Biomet unveiled two platform offerings.

• WalterLorenz Surgical Assist Arm: a bionic, electromechanical arm designed to assist with general retraction and instrument positions.
• Rosa Brain: a surgical navigation and positioning system using robotic technology designed to act as a GPS for the brain.

3. Zimmer Biomet also presented 10-year results for its Mobi-C Cervical Disc for total disc replacement. The device is designed to maintain patient range of motion postsurgery.

4. "We are excited to make our Surgery Assisting Technology platform available to our customers," said Zimmer Biomet Group President Aure Bruneau. "SAT is a focused, yet customizable platform applicable to many surgical treatments within inpatient and outpatient settings."
