From NASA to the OR — 4 highlights on Synaptive Medical's robotics

Spinal Tech

A NASA documentary highlights Synaptive Medical's robotic digital microscopes, Modus V and BrightMatter Drive.

Here are four highlights:

1. The February documentary, "Benefits for Humanity: From Space to Surgery," looked into how Synaptive's robotics have adapted from use in outer space to the operating room.

2. The International Space Station featured the Canadarm2, and Synaptive's medical devices are derived from Canadarm2 technology. Canadarm2 launched in 2001 and assisted with assembly of the International Space Station.

3. Canadarm2 technology serves as the foundation for Synaptive's Modus V, which features automation, an optical payload, and a robotic arm.

4. The documentary included Gavin Britz, MD, director of Houston Methodist Neurological Institute, discussion on using Synaptive's technology.
