Evanston Regional Hospital launches Omnibotics for total knee replacement: 4 insights

Spinal Tech

Wyo.-based Evanston Regional Hospital launched Omnibotics robotic-assisted total knee replacement.

Here are four things to know:

1. Omnibotics TKR is designed to relieve joint degeneration pain caused by osteoarthritis. It allows for a less invasive surgical technique compared to traditional knee replacement surgery and may promote a speedier recovery.

2. According to the CDC, almost half of all adults develop knee osteoarthritis, commonly known as "wear-and-tear arthritis," which can lead to chronic knee pain.

3. The Omnibotics procedure uses advanced software and instrumentation to tailor each procedure to the patient's unique anatomy in order to optimize implant fit and alignment. Patented Omnibotics Bone Morphing technology eliminates the need for CT scans or MRIs and allows the surgeon to perform virtual surgery on a digital model before any bone is cut. The surgeon then uses a robotic cutting guide to make the planned bone resections.

4. There have been 17,000-plus Omnibotics procedures performed to date.
