Orthopaedic Implant Company launches external fixation system: 5 takeaways

The Orthopaedic Implant Company launched the OIC External Fixation System at the 2017 Orthopaedic Trauma Association Annual Meeting.

Here are five things to know:

 

1. The OIC External Fixation System offers a single clamp system that is designed for bar-to-bar or bar-to-pin construction.

 

2. Additionally, the system has a multi-hole clamp option with straight and bent posts. The OIC External Fixation system is also manufactured from non-ferrous materials in the U.S.

 

3. The external fixation system includes 5 millimeter self-tapping and blunt half-pins and contains fiber bars.

 

4. Vice President of Product Design and Customer Experience at OIC Todd Martens said, "External fixators are one of the most expensive devices in use today. Furthermore, they provide provisional fixation, which means additional device expenses follow. Helping alleviate these costs will have incredible implant for

providers and patients."

 

5. OIC entered the medical device market in 2010. Since then the company has grown to include hip fracture devices, plates and screws and external fixation systems.
