Spinal Tech

The first spine surgeries using Globus Medical's ExcelsiusGPS were performed by Nick Theodore, MD, Ali Bydon, MD, and Kade Huntsman, MD, at two different hospitals.

Here are five takeaways:

1. ExcelsiusGPS is a robotic guidance and navigation system that supports minimally invasive and open screw placement procedures.

2. The system integrates Globus Medical implants and instruments and is compatible with preoperative CT, intraoperative CT and fluoroscopic imaging modalities.

3. ExcelsiusGPS is designed to minimize radiation exposure, streamline workflow and reproducibly assist in implant replacement.

4. Globus Medial expects its first revenue from the sale of the system to occur in the fourth quarter.

5. The surgeries were performed at The Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore by Drs. Theodore and Bydon and at St. Marks Hospital in Salt Lake City by Dr. Huntsman.
