Zimmer Biomet launched the Avenue T TLIF Cage in the U.S.

Here are five things to know:

1. The Avenue T incorporates Zimmer Biomet's VerteBRIDGE plating, designed to facilitate cage insertion and zero-profile, intradiscal fixation through a direct minimally invasive approach. The cage is the first posteriorly implanted cage with integrated, anti-migration fixation.

2. The first Avenue T implantations have already occurred in the U.S. Craig Chebuhar, MD, an orthopedic spine surgeon in Atlanta, was among the first in the nation to implant the device. "I regularly use Zimmer Biomet's ROI-C Cervical Cage featuring VerteBRIDGE plating in my practice," he said. "Transforaminal lumbar surgery is another attractive application for integrated plating. For my TLIF patients, I appreciate the additional fixation VerteBRIDGE provides to the construct, all via a minimally invasive approach."

3. The Avenue T Cage is delivered in the disc plane through a simplified technique and the VerteBRIDGE plates are sterile packages and pre-assembled on a PEEK cartridge.

4. The device is indicated for intervertebral body fusion of the lumbar spine from L2 to S1 in skeletally mature patients at one or two continuous levels to treat degenerative disc disease with up to Grade I spondylolisthesis or retrolisthesis.

5. Avenue T joins Zimmer Biomet's ROI-C Cervical Cage, Avenue L Lateral Lumbar Cage and ROI-A ALIF Cage in the company's cage portfolio.
