DePuy Synthes to co-market JointPoint navigation software: 4 key notes

Spinal Tech

DePuy Synthes signed an agreement with JointPoint to co-market proprietary software for the JointPoint navigation system.

Here are four things to know:

1. JointPoint's software is designed for noninvasive computer navigation, presurgical digital templating, case planning and feedback during total hip replacements. The software is designed to help reduce the length of surgery and inaccurate cup placement complications.

2. The software integrates with the anterior approach to hip replacement surgery, a minimally invasive procedure that works around the muscles instead of cutting through them.

3. Surgeons can use the software for real-time, data-driven surgical decision making in the operating room. JointPoint's OneTrial can predict optimal implant combinations based on presurgical goals using two images during surgery. The software also provides implant size and position recommendations.

4. DePuy Synthes will begin co-marketing the software with JointPoint in the second half of 2017.

"By providing access to important information at key stages of the hip replacement process, together we can help surgeons streamline cases and allow for pre-surgical goals to be achieved more consistently," said Global Hip Platform Leader for DePuy Synthes Reconstruction Aaron Villaruz.
