Spinal Tech

A new Inspired Spine study showed 95 percent of patients being treated for symptomatic degenerative spinal deformity using the oblique lateral lumber interbody fusion procedure were able to walk within 24 hours of surgery.

Here's what you need to know.

1. Hamid Abbasi, MD, performed the 37 oblique lateral lumber interbody fusion procedures with the Inspired Spine technology for the study.

2. There weren't any infections among the 37 patients studied; two patients reported light nerve irritation.

3. Using the oblique lateral lumber interbody fusion technique reduces operation time by 50 percent compared to open fusion.

4. This minimally invasive approach also reduces blood loss and postoperative hospital stay.

5. Over 550 patients have undergone successful oblique lateral lumber interbody fusion procedures with the Inspired Spine technology.
