Spinal Tech

New York City-based NYU Langone Medical Center installed its third EOS system.

Here are five things to know:

1. NYU Langone installed the system at Cedar Knolls, N.J.-based The Scoliosis Center, a division of Hanover, N.J.-based Advocare The Orthopedic Center. The orthopedic center treats pediatric and adolescent patients.

2. NYU Langone installed the first two EOS units at its Center for Musculoskeletal Care and the Hospital for Joint Diseases.

3. The EOS solution encompasses low-dose, 2D/3D EOS imaging equipment as well as the 3D modeling workstation.

4. Additionally, the technology features the spineEOS software for 3-D surgical planning.

5. NYU Langone Medical Center researchers conducted a study comparing EOS system radiation with the traditional X-ray radiation for pediatric patients. They found the 2D/3D EOS spine exam used 60 percent less radiation than traditional X-rays.
